PADMAVATHI AMMAVARI VASANTHOTSAVAMS COMMENCES ON A COLOURFUL SPIRITUAL NOTE IN TIRUCHANOOR

Tiruchanoor, 9 May 2017: The three-day Salakatla vasanthotsavam in the famous shrine of Goddess Padmavathi Devi commenced in Tiruchanoor on a colourful spiritual note on Tuesday.

The processional deity of Goddess was gracefully seated on a special platform and Snapana Tirumanjanam has been performed with aromatic ingredients between 3:00pm to 4:30pm in Friday Gardens amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns by temple priests.

The fete began with Kalasa Sthapana, followed by Kalasaradhana, Vishvaksena Puja, then followed Snapanam Tirumanjanam with various ingredients including milk, honey, coconut, sandal and turmeric amidst Chaturveda Parayanam.

This festival is usually observed during the spring season as per Hindu Almanac. The Sun enters into Zodiac sign Aries, glows brightly which causes diseases to all living creatures due to over heat.

It is strongly believed that by performing the special aromatic bath to “Universal Mother” Goddess Padmavathi, She will shower Her benign blessings on humanity and save the world creatures from all seasonal diseases caused due to high temperatures. Vasanthotsavam hence is described as “Soothing festival from Scorching Heat”.

TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal, Tirupati JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar, temple Special Gr.DyEO Sri P Munirathnam Reddy and other temple staffs, pilgrims were also present.

SWARNARATHAM ON MAY 10

On the second day of Vasanthotsavam there will be Swarnarathotsavam by 8:15am.

The Grihastas pilgrims who are willing to take part in this fete on any one of these three days should pay Rs.150 per ticket. They will be presented with one laddu and a vada. Meanwhile the temple authorities have cancelled arjitha sevas including Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva on these three days.
