PADMAVATHI PARINAYOTSAVAM FROM MAY 8-10

TIRUMALA, MAY 4:  The festival of Sri Padmavathi -Srinivasa Kalyanam in the name of Padmavathi Parinayotsavam is being observed every year in the month of May for three days and this year it falls from May 8-10.

The celestial wedding will be celebrated in the specially arranged Kalyana Mandapam in the Narayanagiri gardens. Pomp and gaiety mark this three – day celebration performed in the evening in this colorful ceremony conducted on Navami, Dasami and Ekadasi in the month of Vaisakha. Sri Malayappaswami, the festival deity of Lord Venkateswara, arrives in dynamic style on Gaja, Asva and Garuda Vahanas respectively on each day, while Sridevi and Bhudevi arrive on separate palanquins.

Later the wedding ceremony is celebrated with grandeur. In the evening crackers are burnt in a colourful manner which happens to be the special attraction during the religious event.

Every day after the wedding in the Kalayana Mandapam ‘Koluvu’ is held. A number of cultural proframmes like Harikatha, dance and music takes place. Later the Lord along with Sridevi and Bhudevi return to the temple.  Thus, the three-day long grand wedding cermony comes to a close. Devotees who purchase tickets for the wedding cermony performed each day can take part in this annual seva.
