Tirumala, 23 January 2020:The Pontiff of Puttige mutt of Udupi in Karnataka, HH Sri Sri Sri Sugunendrathirtha Swamy has said that chanting of Govinda Nama was a sure path towards salvation.
He was participating in the Aradhanotsavam of patriarch of carnatic music Sri Purandara Dasa organised by the Dasa Sahitya Project of TTD at Asthana Mandapam in Tirumala on Thursday.
He said Puranic texts revealed that to reach God one should follow the ardent saint poet Sri Purandara Dasa and chant the sankeertans penned by Purandara Dasa who extolled the saranagati concept in simple language.
Special Officer of Dasa Sahitya Project Sri Anandathirthacharyulu said hailed the landmark life work of Sri Purandara Dasa who complied to his credit 4.75 lakh sankeertans and stood as an exemplary role model to younger generations.
Earlier nearly 2500 bhajan mandal members from Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka performed suprabata, dhyanam, bhajans and nagara sankeertans.
Sankeertans at Narayanagiri gardens on January 24
Narayanagiri gardens will become the platform for Purandara Dasa sankeertans in the evening of January 24 in the presence of utsava idols of Sri Malayappaswamy and his consorts.
On January 25th several sankeertana programs like bhajans, nagara sankeertans and Bhakti sangeet will be hosted at Astana mandapam in Tirumala.
