PAVITHRALU SAMARPANA WENT OFF IN A COLOURFUL WAY
TIRUMALA, 7 August 2014: On the second day of the ongoing three-day annual Salakatla Pavithrotsavam festival in Srivari temple at Tirumala, the holy silk threads, Pavithralu have been adorned to various deities inside the sanctum sanctorum as well as the deities of sub-temples located inside hill shrine on Thursday.
After Snapana Tirumanjanam, special puja has been performed to the silk woven holy threads which are in black, blue, red, yellow and green colurs. These threads have been adorned to the processional deities and other deities of various sub-shrines located inside hill temple and also to Sri Bhuvarahaswamy located adjacent to Swamy pushkarini.
These holy silk threads called “Pavithralu” will be woven out of the special variety of high quality cotton which is grown exclusively in the land that is meant to grow Tulsi plant as they are considered to be sacred.
TTD Chairman Sri K Bapi Raju, TTD Executive Officer Sri M.G.Gopal, Joint Executive Officer Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, DyEOs Sri Chinnamgari Ramana, Temple Peishkar Sri Selvam and others took part in this festival.
Later in the evening the Processional deity of Lord Malayappaswamy along with His consorts adorned with Pavithra Mala were taken out in a procession around four mada streets.
In connection with Pavithrotsavams, TTD has cancelled arjitha sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva on sunday.
