PILGRIMS BRAVE SCORCHING TEMPERATURES FOR LORD’s DARSHAN

TIRUMALA, MAY 24: The hill town of Tirumala in the last two days has witnessed heavy surge of pilgrims and by the end of Saturday about 95, 113 pilgrims had darshan of Lord Venkateswara braving scorching temperature which has crossed 40 degrees on Mercury scale.

Meanwhile, TTD Executive Officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao along with Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju had personally monitored the movement of different queue lines till the closure of General darshan late night on Saturday.

On Sunday also, under the instructions of EO, the General darshan commenced a little after 6:30am and the management has drastically reduced VIP darshan tickets in the wake of heavy pilgrim rush. With the timely measures taken up by Ttd, as per the reports reaching by 1pm on Sunday over 49,354 pilgrims had darshan of Lord. Later the EO also inspected PAC II.

Meanwhile the all time record of the number of tonsures set on Friday was broken on Saturday with the figure standing at 68,364 surpassing the previous record within 24hours.
