PRESENATION OF SILK VASTRAM TO LORD VENKATESWARA BY CM OF AP

Tirumala, 26 September 2014: Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu made the customary and official presentation of a pair of ‘silk vastrams’ to the temple of Lord Venkateswara on behalf of the State government in connection with the annual brahmotsavams which got off to a spectacular start on Tuesday. His official presentation is part of the grand inauguration of the nine day holy event of Brahmotsavams of temple of Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala-Tirupati.

At a brief ceremony organised at Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple situated in front of the main temple as is the convention, the priests tied the traditional ‘Parivattam’ to Chandrababu Naidu. He then proceeded towards the temple complex in a grand procession preceded by caparisoned temple elephants, horses, bulls and other temple paraphernalia to the accompaniment of the rhythmic beat of the temple drums. The vastrams will be adorned to the deity on the auspicious Garuda Seva day which falls on September 30.

Speaking on the occasion the TTD Executive Officer M G Gopal said the Chief Minister was continuing the tradition as a custodian of the temple and that visit to temple and offering of ‘Silk Vastrams’ to was part of his commitment to provide a good administration and peace in the state.

Legends say that these offerings of Vastrams  was made by the kings and emperors of south Indian kingdoms as an expression of their devotion to Lord Venkateswara and their their plea for his blessings  on the well being of people and the  peace in Kingdom.’ Offerings made  for centuries are followed  by the successive governments and the CM’s and heads  are blessed of  their benevolent administration and p[promotion of dharma and Bhakti cult  in their region’ says Dr A V Ramana Dikshitulu, the chief priest of the TTD.

The Chief Minister along with his wife Bhuwaneswari and other Cabinet colleagues carried the ‘silk vastrams’ in a silver plate on his head and handed them over to the chief priest inside the sanctum sanctorum.

CM LAUDS TTD FOR PRO-PILGRIM SCHEMES: Hon’ble CM of AP complimented TTD EO and other officials for introducing three stepped darshan and advance booking of Rs. 300 tickets for the benefit of pilgrims. After coming out of darshan he said Lord has given him second life and the opportunity to offer silk vastrams for over nine brahmotsavams. “ I prayed the Lord to bestow his blessings for overall speedy development of the state. Later CM of AP CM of AP released new year 2014 Rs. 10 and Rs. 7 calendars.
