PUNE DRUMMERS AT TIRUMALA MADA STREETS

Tirumala. October 2, 2014 : They are doctors, engineers, advocates, students and even daily wagers. But they were all together in their resolve to serve  Lord Venkateswara in their own unique manner and beget his  blessings. They were drummers from Pune with their band tilted  Nada Brahma.

74 of the youth including 20 young girls are part of the Nada Brahma team at Tirumala in this season of Brahmotsavam. They have been at the fore front of the Vahanams of Balaji twice a day morning and evening– with their only agenda – to serve with music of drum beating.

Ashwini sapre, a bubbly and upcoming advocate of the Pune High court says that  this was her second trip to Tirumala and she is enjoying it .’There is a thrill and excitement in drum beating for Lord Venkateswara and he appears to listen to our woes and  also provide solutions  ‘ she says.

Like Aswhni there were several other girls on the team of drum beaters from Pune. Lalitha, Anushka, Gomathi and Mallika are all drum beaters and they say  it gives them immense  satisfaction to serve the Lord Venkateswara  in their own style.

There were hundreds of such performers on the holy Mada streets of Tirumala presenting their skills either in drum beating, folk arts, dances , record dancing, and also presenting Bhajans and devotional cum spiritual displays  with mythological characters.

TTD conceived Mada streets as a huge open air theatre a sort of mandapam where the young and talented display their skills in service of Lord Venkateswara says  the  Temple  executive officer  M G Gopal. ‘This is the greatest  showcase of Hinduism in the world ‘ he says adding that the Lord Venkateswara cult has bonded people of all sects  and  regions  and languages‘, he says.

Raghunath the secretary of Hindu Dharma Prachara parishad says that, there was a great crush of north Indians towards Tirupati and Tirumala in the last few years in view of the  beleaguered  social conditions there. The programs of Bhajans, temple resurrection and  Srinivasa Kalyanams in district towns, metro cities etc have roused devotional spirits and spiritual enlightenment of millions, he said.
