PUSHPAYAGAM IN TIRUMALA ON OCT 31

TIRUMALA, OCT 29: The Lord of Festivities is all set to enjoy the most colourful religious fete of “Pushpayagam” which is scheduled to take place on October 31 in Tirumala temple on Friday with Ankurarpanam on Thursday evening.

Pushpa Yagam is the annual fete in the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala which is usually performed soon after the completion of annual brahmotsavams in the month of Karthika as per Hindu calendar in the asterism of Sravanam.

As per the temple legend, this floral festival was in vogue since the early 15th century and revived by TTD in 1980s. The deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy along with His two consorts will be seated on a specially arranged platform and snapanam (holy bath) with varieties of colourful and florescent flowers is performed much to the admiration of devotees.

Nearly seven tones of flowers, including lilies, roses, crysanthimum, mogali etc. will be used to render floral tributes to the deities they were immersed in neck depth in the sea of flower bed. The Pushpayagam will take place from 1pm to 5pm on Friday.

TTD has cancelled Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva on Thursday and all arjitha sevas including Nijapada Darshanam, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva on Friday following this annual religious event.
