PUSHPAYAGAM ON NOVEMBER 18
Tirumala, 13 November 2015: The hill town of Lord Venkateswara, is gearing up for yet another colourful religious fete, annual Pushpayagam, which falls on November 18 in the auspcious asterism of Sravanam, which also happens to be the Birth Star of Lord Venkateswara in the celestial month of Karthika.
This ceremony is usually performed after annual Brahmotsavam. Ankurarpanam is done prior to the Pushpayagam. As per the scriptures, this festival is usually performed to save the earth from natural calamities such as quakes, cyclones, epidemics and appease the Lord to save the life of humanity, flora and fauna from all the catastrophes.This festival which was in vogue in 15th Century, was reinstated by TTDs in 1980s.
TTD has cancelled Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam in connection with this festival on Wednesday. This festival of flowers will be observed in Tirumala temple from 1pm to 5pm. TTD top brass officials will take part in this celestial fete.
