SHOBHA YATRA OF MUTHYALA TALAMBRALU TOOK PLACE IN TIRUPATI

Tirupati, 29 Mar. 15: The shobha yatra of “celestial wedding pearls”-muthyala talambralu took place in the temple town of Tirupati under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTDs) on Sunday evening.

Earlier, the temple deputy EO Sri Bhupthi Reddy received the precious pearls from AEO Treasury Sri Srinivasulu in Administrative building.

The procession began from TTD Administrative building by 3pm after offering prayers to the pearls by temple chief priest of Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple Sri Ananda Kumar Dikshitulu who carried the pearls on the temple elephant.

The procession passed along the lanes of TK Street, Gandhi Road, Chinnabazar street before it reached Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple amidst the chanting of “Rama Namas”.

These celestial pearls will be used as “Talambralu”(an ancient tradition in South Indian Hindu marriages where in the bride and bridegroom pour in the pearls over their heads) in the celestial marriage of Lord Sri Rama and Goddess Sita Devi which will be performed in the temple on Sunday evening by 6pm.

The denizens converged at different points to see the procession of the celestial pearls.
