SIMHA VAHANAM IMPLIES THAT LORD IS OMNIPRESENT

Tirumala, 5 October 2016: On the third day on Wednesday, Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy as Yoga Murthi took a pride ride on the ferocious Simha Vahanam and blessed the devotees in Tirumala as a part of the ongoing annual srivari brhamotsavams.

IMPORTANCE

According to the theology of Vaishnavism, Narasiṁhavataram, the ferocious half lion and half man incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu indicates the omnipresence of God. This incarnation depicts that the God’s willingness and ability to come to the aid of His devotees, no matter how difficult or impossible the circumstances may appear to be, if the devotees sincerely pray Him.

PURE DEVOTION

Bhakta Prahlada’s devotion indicates that pure devotion is not one of birth rights but of character. Prahlada, although born an asura-demon, demonstrated the greatest bhakti to God, and endured much, without losing faith.

DIFFERENT FORMS

There are several forms of Narasiṁha, but nine forms are most important and they are collectively known as Nava-Narasiṁha, which includes-
1. Ugra-narasiṁha
2. Krodha-narasiṁha
3. Veera-narasiṁha
4. Vilamba-narasiṁha
5. Kopa-narasiṁha
6. Yoga-narasiṁha
7. Aghora-narasiṁha
8. Sudarśana-narasiṁha
9. Lakṣmī-narasiṁha

On third day morning the Lord in sitting posture indicates as “Yoga Narasimhamurthy” the icon of Gnana and Bhakti tatvas.
