SPECTACULAR “SPRING FOREST” SETTINGS ENHANCE THE BEAUTY OF ANNUAL VASANTHOTSAVAMS IN TIRUMALA

Tirumala, 12 April 2014: The aesthetic beauty of the decorations made for the annual vasanthotsavams in the Vasantha Mandapam at Tirumala enhanced the divine charm as “Vasantha Vanam” created by the Garden department of TTD recreated an “Earthen Heaven” on Saturday.

Annual Festival of Vasanthotsavams to Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy, in Tirumala Temple will be performed for three days every year during Trayodasi, Chaturdasi and Pournami in the month of Chaitra Masam (March/April Month). According to the Tirumala Temple Legend, the Vasanthotsavam Festival was started during the period of King Achyutaraya in 1460’s.

Dr PD Patil from Pune came forward to donate for the beautiful decorations for Salakatla Vasanthotsavams this year at a cost of Rs.6.5lakhs. The concept of spring forests created by the garden department of TTD under the supervision of Deputy Director of Garden Sri Srinivas with chirps of the birds, sounds of the wild beasts including Lion, Tiger, Elephant etc, the lovely sounds of water flows with monkeys hanging on the trees, snakes finely dancing to the vedic hymns with their hoods wide open mesmerized the pilgrims with its splendour.

On Saturday the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy and his consorts were taken round in procession and brought to Vasanta Mandapam. In Vasanta Mandapam, Snapana Thirumanjanam(Holy Bath) was performed to the deities from 2pm to 4pm amidst vedic hymns and later they were brought back to temple.

In view of srivari annual vasanthotsavam, TTD has cancelled Kalyanotsavam, Dolotsavam(Ujal Seva), Arjitha Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva.

Chief Secretary Sri PK Mohanty, TTD EO Sri MG Gopal, JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju and pilgrims were also present.
