SPORTS WILL BOOST YOUR “SPIRIT OF SERVICE”-TTD EO SRI MG GOPAL

TIRUMALA, FEB 3:  “Sports will not only strengthen the physical and mental fitness of the body but also improves the “Spirit of Service” which is very much essential for the TTD employees since they deal with tens of thousands of visiting pilgrims every day” said, TTD EO Sri MG Gopal.

After inaugurating the annual sports meet 2014 of TTD Employees at SV Arts college grounds in Tirupati on Monday by unveiling the National and Sports flags, the TTD EO in his address said that the word S-P-O-R-T-S, stands for improving “Social Skills”, “Physical Fitness”, “Obedience”, “Resourcesfulness”, “Team Spirit” and “Stress Relief”. “These qualities are very much needed for a person to lead a pleasant life”, he added.

He complimented the employees for taking part with enthusiasm in the sports meet in spite of their busy work schedule. “ As per a recent survey by ICMR, almost every child of this country is suffering from the loss of “D-Vitamin”. This is because of the centralised Air-conditioned education we are imparting to them both in house as well in schools. The children today are hardly finding time to play and due to lack of sun exposure they are becoming victims to this deficiency”, he alarmed.

“TTD is one of the most important organisations in the entire world that functions 24X7 throughout the year. If you participate in the sports meet, your children also develop the eagerness for sports”, the EO said.

Earlier in his speech Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju said sports play a vital role in making a person a complete human being.  He said sports not only develop the positive attitude in a person but also enhances patience and time sense in every individual apart from physical and mental fitness.

In his presidential speech, Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar said, about 3014 employees including 1899 men and 1124 women employees have registered for the sports meet. He said it has been decided to observe the annual sports from January 18 to January 25 every year from next year onward. “The closing ceremony and awards distribution will be on the evening of January 26 after Republic Day Celebrations. The annual sports meet 2014 will conclude on February 15”, he added.

Meanwhile Transport GM Sri Sesha Reddy delivered the welcome speech and the vote of thanks was rendered by Physical Director Sri Bhaskar. The entire sports meet arrangements have been carried out under the supervision of Deputy EO Welfare Smt Vanaja.
