SRINIVASA KALYANAM ENTHRALLS DENIZENS OF NAGARI

Nagari, 25 June 2014: As a part of the programme the prestigious programme it had embarked on a few years ago to provide an opportunity to all those in the country to witness the celestial wedding (Kalyanothsavam) of Lord Venkateswara sitting right in their native places, the TTD performed the Srinivasa Kalyanam’ at Nagari in Chittoor district on Wednesday evening.

The chief motto behind this celestial wedding is the twin objectives of promoting spiritualism especially the “Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Cult” among people and secondly preserving, propagating and propagating the tenets and values embedded in Sanatana Hindu Dharma through spiritual programmes like this from the grass root level.

The elaborate kalyanam performed by a battery of priests from TTD in the sprawling grounds of Government Degree College in Nagari about 45km from Tirupati, lasted for over two hours and was marked by religious fervour. The celestial wedding began with Punyahavachanam followed by Edurkolu, Pubantata, Vastra Samarpana, Sankalpam, Kalyanam and concluded with special harati marking the successful completion of the divine wedding.

Tens of hundreds of devotees took part in this celestial fete and were enthralled by the dazzling beauty of the deities, Lord Malayappa Swamy and His two Consorts – Sridevi and Bhudevi. The devotees who were mused by the grandeur of the celestial wedding chanted “Govinda Govinda” with religious ebullience.

Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju and Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar, HDPP Spl Officer Sri Raghunath, Kalyanam Project OSD Sri Ramachandra Reddy were also present.
