Srinivasa Kalyanam goes to USA

Tirupati, 27 April 2010: The celestial event of Srinivasa Kalyanam performed at the Srivari Temple every day will now be enacted in two cities of the United States- in the month of  May 2010.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams have dedicated themselves to the propagation of Hindu Dharma and service of Lord Venkateswara whose abundant Grace is the source of eternal bliss.

The Devasthanams organize ‘Srivari Kalyanam’ every year as part of its programme to spread bhakti and promote spiritual values.  ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’ celebrated on the lines of the kalyanotsavam performed at Tirumala at all important places in the country is a rare occasion for the devotees to witness the celestial wedding of the Lord and His consorts Bhudevi and Sridevi.

To imbibe devotion in the hearts of the common man, to get tranquillity to the disturbed mind, and for those who are not in a position to travel all the way to Tirumala and perform Srinivasa Kalyana and for those who are not in a position to visit Tirumala for witnessing the Padmavati Parinaya. 

The event is  Sponsored by the  TTD, the  Telugu Times and the two major Hindu temples and cultural associations in the  US.  The TTD has taken up this program as part of the activities of the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad to spread the tenets of sanathana dharma among the NRI’s in the USA.

The event is jointly organized by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in association with the Telugu Times, Hindu  American Temple and cultural centre of  Sri Guruvayurappan Temple, New Jersey and the Sunnyvale  Hindu temple and  Community  Centre, California.

The TTD chairman Sri. D.K.AdiKesavulu, Sri. Sreedhar Menon CEO – Viteos Group and Dr R.G. Krishnan Vice Chairman – HATCC, Dr S. Yegnasubramanian Chairman – HATCC, Padmasri V.R. Gowrishankar CEO – Sringeri Mutt Karnataka,   have been enrolled in the Advisory Committee which will oversee all the preparations for the successful conduction of the program.

A four-member core committee led by  Jayaram Komati Chairman – Telugu Times and its editor  Subba Row V Chennuri and New Jersey-based Mahender Musuku and Ram Vedantham is behind the unique exercise of taking the TTD services performed at the Srivari Temple Tirumala including the Srinivasa Kalyanam to the US.

The 25 member steering committee for the conduction of the entire program of  Srinivasa Kalyanam in the two cities including Dr Yegna Subramanian of Guruvayurappan Temple, NJ and, Raj Bhanot of Sunnyvale Temple of  CA.

May 1^st “Srinivasa Kal yanam “at Morganville, NJ: TTD and its associate  Hindu  Dharma Prachara Parishad have taken a giant step for the benefit of devotees of Lord Venkateswara in the US to perform “SrivariKalyanam” in New Jersey and California. The first event on May 1^st is held at the Sri Guruvaayoorappan Temple (Sir Krishnaji Mandir), Morganville, NJ, the business capital of USA.

Situated in a 35-acre property, an authentic temple is being built to house Lord Guruvayoorappan, Lord Balaji, Lord Siva Ekabareswara, Lord Satyanarayana, Lord Ayyappa and another deity. The venue has been ritually sanctified to welcome Lord Srinivasa for the Kalyanam function. The Archakas and the Officials who came from Tirupati are personally supervising the arrangements and perform the Sevas like Suprabatam, Archana etc on May  1^st  before the commencement of the Srinivasa Kalyanam.

 May 9^th, Srinivasa Kalyanam at Sunnyvale , CA :

The second Kalyanam is held at the Technology capital of the USA ( San Jose ), California at the Sunnyvale Hindu Temple on May 9^th.   Sunnyvale Hindu Temple is known for the cultural and spiritual activities of the Hindu community living in San Jose. The deities installed there include Lord Ganesh, Balaji, Mahavir, Hanuman, Ram Parivar, Jagannath and Goddess Durga.

 The venue also has been ritually sanctified to receive the Utsava Idols of Lord Srinivasa for the Srinivasa Kalyanam function. The Archakas and the Officials from Tirupati will personally supervise the arrangements and perform the Sevas here on May 9^th. As per the agreement with the TTD, the Utsava Idols and all other puja equipment brought from Tirumala will be left at the temples as the American religious institutions have purchased the same from the TTD.

 The 25 team from the TTD included Dr R Kativa Prasad, secretary of HDPP, Sri Sridhar Swamy, Sri Mallikarjuna Avadhani and Sri Chandramouli (all Archakas) and the PRO Sri.T.Ravi.
