SRIVARU GETS SPECIAL CLEANSING WITH “PARIMALAM”

KOIL ALWAR TIRUMANJAN OBSERVED IN TIRUMALA

Tirumala, 12 July 2016: In connection with the annual Anivara Asthanam on July 16, koil alwar tirumanjanam, the traditional temple cleansing fete with aromatic mixture ‘parimalam’ was observed in Tirumala on Tuesday.

The entire holy activity lasted for four hours from 6am to 10am. Ttd has cancelled Asta dala pada padmaradhana Seva in connection with this festival.

PARIMALAM ACTS AS DISINFECTANT

Meanwhile the entire sanctum sanctorum, deities in Antaralam, standing lamps, hanging lamps etc. Were also cleansed with Parimalam, an amalgamation of 18 varieties of herbs including cuscus, kicchiligadda etc. which not only cleanses but also acts as disinfectant.

MAIN DEITY COVERED WITH GHATATOPAM

Before commencing the cleansing fete, the main deity and Bhogasrinivasa Murthy were covered with a tradirional cotton cloth called ‘Ghatatopam’ to shield them from dust etc. Later the other parivara devatalu were brought outside and cleansed near bangaru bavi in Vimana prakaram.

After completing the whole cleansing activity, the parivara devatalu, lamps, pooja articles were brought inside the sanctum and the white cloth on main deity and bhoga Srinivasan murthy is removed.

ASTOTTARA SATA NAMARCHANA PERFORMED

Later Astottara Satanamarchana, reciting 108 divine names of Lord Venakteswara is performed and later devotees are allowed for darshan.
TTD trust board chairman Dr Ch Krishna murthy, TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao and others also took part in this celestial fete.
