“STERN MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN TO PUT AN END TO EVANGELISM IN TIRUMALA”-TTD EO

Tirumala, 29 October 2014: TTD EO Sri MG Gopal asserted that stern measures will be initiated to put an end to the menace of evangelic activities in Tirumala.

Reacting sharply over the video clipping of Christian Propaganda in Tirumala by certain evangelic group which created flutter in TTD circles on Wednesday evening, TTD EO told media persons at his chambers in Tirumala that TTD is considering this issue as a serious matter. When there are laws which states that propagation of any other religion in and around Tirumala is illegal, it is unfortunate that some evangelic groups are heeding to such mean tactics and creating unnecessary chaos, hurting the sentiments of millions and millions of pilgrims. This incident came to my notice with the mail forwarded by former DGP Sri Arvinda Rao to me and I immediately alerted the TTD vigilance and police sleuths”, he added.

“With this incident, we are now contemplating to ensure more strict laws to curb evangelic activities in Tirumala. We will even take this to the notice of the government and seek stern action against those heeding to such illegal practices as per legal procedure and they will not be spared”, he maintained.
