SURYA PUJOTSAVAM FROM MARCH 24-28

Tirupati, 10 March 2015: The unique religious fete of surya PUJOTSAVAM will be observed from March 24 to March 28.

As per the legend the presiding deity is in Matsyavatara, the first incarnation of Lord Sri maha Vishnu. Only during this period the Rays of Sun God will touch the body of Lord in a geometrical manner. On first day the Rays will fall on the feet, second day on stomach and on final days falls over head of the deity which is located almost 650feet inside sanctum Santorum. Apart from its spiritual significance the fall of Rays to inner most part of the temple from such a great distance is an architectural wonder. Thousands of devotees from neighbouring states also converge during these days to catch a glimpse of this factual wonder.

Meanwhile on March 22 Matsya Jayanthi will be observed. The annual teppotsavams will be from March 24 to 28 between 6pm to 8pm every day in the sacred waters of temple tank.
