TIRUMALA GETS TOP SLOT IN SWACHH BHARATH MISSION- TTD EO

Tirupati, 19 September 2016 : The holy shrine of Tirumala has earned a slot in the top ten locations selected for implementation of Swachh Bharat mission, says TTD EO DR D Sambasiva Rao.

TTD EO said Government of India has chosen Tirumala among the 10 popular locations for effective implementation of the Swachh bharat mission in the first phase. About 100 popular locations all over the country will be developed under the mission.

He said public sector giants like Coal India and ONGC will fund the activities under Corporate Social Responsibility at Tirumala as part of Swachh Bharat Mission.

TTD EO said the TTD plans to submit a proposal to the the public sector companies for Rs.26 crore for beautifying Tirumala under the program.

He said daily 20 MLD of drain water was purified and reused at Tirumala. A Rs 6 crore proposal will be taken for purifying another 5 MLD of drain water for watering the sandal wood saplings and gardens besides the social forestry along the ghat roads, He said

• bulk garbage removal system needed Rs 1.50 crore
• replacement of LED blubs at Rs.5.50 crore
• Rs.6 crore for electric buses and battery cars for making Tirumala pollution free
• Rs Two crore for setting up 20 RO plants for jala prasadam for devotees, to facilitate total ban on water bottles in Tirumala.

Among others Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, Tirupati JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar, Chief engineer Sri Chandrasekhar Reddy, SEs Sri Ramesh Reddy and Sri Ramachandra Reddy participated in the meeting.
