TIRUMALA JEO BEGINS PLANTATION PROGRAMME

TIRUMALA, AUGUST 26: Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju has formally launched the plantation programme in Tirumala on Tuesday noon by planting Deva Ganneru – temple trees in the premises of Kalyana Vedika.

Addressing media persons after the plantation programme, the JEO said, TTD has decided to plant 1300 trees as a part of its environmental protection programme. “After the accidental death of an autodriver in Tirumala few months ago because of the sudden fall of an age old tree, we have demolished many such trees which are proving dangerous to human life. But being the biggest custodian of ecology, TTD always give priority to protect its green environs. So we have started this mission of planting trees”, he added.

Meanwhile, Rajamundry based donor Sri Subba Rao has donated about Rs.2.5lakhs Deva Ganneru trees to TTD. TTD has began the plantation programme in Kalyana Vedika located in Papavinasanam road and will also plant the trees in the entire township of Tirumala including Medaramitta, Shankumitta, Padmavathi Guest House area, Mullakunta etc.

Temple Deputy EO Sri C Ramana, Kalyanakatta Deputy EO Sri Krishna Reddy, DFO Sri NV Siva Prasad and others were also present.
