TIRUMALA JEO INSPECTS DAMS
Tirumala, 16 November 2015: Tirumala JEO Sri Sreenivasa Raju on Monday visited various dams in Tirumala which are in full swing with water due to incessant rains.
Speaking to media persons in Tirumala he said, with the grace of Lord Venkateswara all the dams in Tirumala are completely filled and the total existing capacity in all the dams will suffice the water needs for the next 355 days. The water level in the twin projects of Kumaradhara and Pasupudhara are just half a metre away. We are expecting that also to reach full capacity if the rain continues. While we have opened the gates of Papavinasanam last night at around 11:30pm after informing the district revenue officials for cautioning the villagers in lower region”, he added.
Meanwhile the total water capacity in all the dams reached 221.92mcft which includes Papavinasanam-83.72mcft, Gogarbham-43.07mcft, Akasa Ganga-10.76mcft, Kumaradhara-63.73mcft and Pasupudhara-20.63mcft.
Executive Engineer of water works Sri Narasimhamurthy was also present.
