TRIBUTES PAID TO VENGAMAMBA

TIRUMALA, AUGUST 24: Rich tributes were paid to Saint Poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba in Tirumala on her 198th Vardhanthi on Monday by Tirumala Jeo Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju and his Tirupati counterpart Sri P Bhaskar.

Speaking on this occasion Tirumala Jeo said, she was an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara who pioneered Annaprasada Vitarana in Tirumala. “As a mark of her great devotion, even today, TARIGONDA VENGAMAMBA Mutyala Harati is being rendered to Lord Venkateswara even day during Ekanta Seva”, he maintained.

Meanwhile TIRUPATI Jeo said, when Saint poet Tallapaka Annamacharya paid tributes to Lord with his Sankeertans, Vengamamba served Lord with her literary treasure by penning poems including Tarigonda Nrusimha Satakam followed by Nrusimha Vilasa Katha, Siva Natakam and Balakrishna Natakam as Yakshaganam and Rajayogamrutha Saram, a Dwipada Kavyam.

She also composed Vishnu Parijatham, Chenchu Natakam, Rukmini Natakam and Jala Krida Vilasam and Mukthi Kanthi Vilasam (all Yaksha Ganams), Gopi Natakam (Golla Kalapam-Yakshaganam), Rama Parinayam, Sri Bhagavatham, Sri Krishna Manjari, Tatva Keerthanalu and Vashista Ramayanam (Dwipada), Sri Venkataachala Mahatyam (Padya Prabhandam) and Ashtanga Yoga,Saram (Padyakruthi) and many more great works and preached the glory of Lord”, he maintained.
