TTD GEARS UP FOR SHRAVANA POURNAMI-MANAGUDI ON AUGUST 2-TTD JEO

TIRUPATI, JULY 31:  TTDs Joint EO Sri KS Srinivasa Raju said that the temple administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTDs) has set ready to celebrate the Shravana Pournami-Managudi programme on August 2 across 12thousand odd temples in the State along with AP Endowments department.

Addressing media persons at Sri Padmavathi Guest House in Tirupati on Tuesday evening the JEO briefed on the elaborate arrangements made by TTD for this prestigeous programme. He said this Shravana Pournami is unique as the Shravana Nakshatra which happens to be the auspicious birth star of Lord Venkateswara also fell on the same day.

  “So with a mission to propagate Hindu Sanatana Dharma Prachara in nook and corner of the state, TTD over the advice of Central Dharmic Advisory Council (CDAC) took up this massive programme along with Endowments Department of AP. The idea is to make public also involve in the noble and novel mission of protecting the age old temples which are the identity of our past glory and rich heritage”, he observed.

  Later the JEO said TTD as a token gesture has sent cartons containing holy Vermilion, Turmeric, Kalkand, sacred Kankanams, devotional books and CDs to over 12thousand odd temples across the state which have reached their respective destinations on Tuesday.

  “The day commences with Nama Sankeertans on Shravana Pournami at 5am followed by the rituals that are being performed in the respective temples. Later the public will take part in the programme which also includes floral arrangements, rangoli, setting up pandals etc. give a festive look to the temple”, he added.

  The JEO said apart from 6A temples, over 80% of the temples of these 12thousand temples belongs to 6C category under AP Endowments department. “Besides Honourable AP Governor, AP Endowments Minsiter, the MLAs, MLCs, MP, public representatives have also expressed their willingness to take part in this mass devotional programme mulled jointly by TTD and AP Endowments departments”, he maintained.

  “As of now West Godavari topped the list with 2321 temples where Shravana Pournami-Managudi will be organised on a grand scale while Mehaboobnagar stood at the bottom with 350 temples being enrolled for the programme. In Chittoor district, this mass programme will be observed in over 650 temples including 85 temples within and surrounding Tirupati alone”, he pointed.

  Later he appealed to the people to take part in this noble programme in a big way and also encourage the youth to take part in the programme as the next generation should know our rich heritage.
