TTD GEARS UP FOR VARAHA JAYANTHI ON SEPT.4

Tirumala, 3 September 2016: The annual Varaha jayanti fete will be celebrated amid religious fervour in Bhu Varaha Swamy temple located adjacent to Swami Pushkarini on the north side of Tirumala shrine on Sunday.

According our Puranas, Lord Maha Vishnu assumed Varaha Avatara, the incarnation being a giant wild boar, to retrieve the Vedas and to save the world. He killed Hiranyaksha and saved the world and then retrieved the Vedas from the asura and brought it back to the safe custody of Lord Brahma.

Tirumala being known as Adi Varaha Kshetram, this religious fete of Varaha Jayanthi is observed in the hill town in a ceremonial manner.

Special Abhishekam will be performed followed by Punyahavachanam at 9am in the Varaha Swamy temple on Sunday.
