TTD nets Rs.1.41 crore on Day-1 of Brahmotsavam-2013

  • 46,581 pilgrims including 17,106 by foot path
  • 56,185 meals, 68416 given food in queues
  • 20,784 pilgrims had  free darshan

Tirumala, October6: The Brahmotsavam-2013 got off to colourful and devotional start on Saturday with the Chief Minister Sri Kiran Kumar Reddy participation at the Srivari Temple.

In all 1.41 crore were collected through hundi and other sales and sevas on day-1 in which over 46,581 pilgrims had darshan of Lord Venkateswara.

All statistics provided by the Temple department said that 56,185 pilgrims enjoyed free meals while curd rice, sambar rice and pulihara were provided to 68,416 pilgrims still in queues yesterday. TTD staff provided 57,900 cups of milk, 36,875 cups of coffee and tea and 31,530 plates of tiffin to devotees freely.

Officials said 23.6 lakh gallons of water were consumed, 21,493 heads tonsured, 16,164 pilgrims transported by bus and finally 4019 pilgrims provided Medicare freely. Nearly 4019 Srivari Sevak volunteers served the devotees and TTD publications worth Rs 26,068 were sold at the book exhibitions.
