TTD TO ACCEPT ONLY HEALTHY, INDIGENOUS CATTLE
Tirupati, 29 December 2016: With an aim to protect and increase the desi breed of cows, the SV Gosamrakshanashala of TTD will henceforth accept only indigenous cows as donation from pilgrim devotees.
Giving priority to Cow-protection activity, TTD has started the SV Go Samrakrshana Trust in the year 2002 and since then donations in the form of cows, calves, bulls have been pouring in to the trust.
But in the recent past some of them are donating unproductive and sick cattle to TTD trust not withstanding the burden to take care of non-indigenous and non-milching cattle. As a result, TTD has been facing serious scarcity of land and water in its Goshala with the increase in the strength of diseased cross breed cattle which is posing threat to the existing indigenous breeds.
TTD has formulated some guidelines to the donors to accept the Desi breeds ony including the productive Gir, Shahiwal, Red Sindhi, Punganuru and Ongole breeds of cows.
The donors should donate the indigenous breed cows with prior permission from TTD Go Samrakshana Trust and with a certification by Veterinary Assistant Surgeon of the local Animal Husbandry department.
These desi breeds should produce about 8-10 litres of milk every day while the Ongole breed should yield at least 5litres of milk per day.
TTD has also requested the philanthropists not to donate the calves, bulls, aged and sick cattle for the benefit of Desi breed cows.
