TUMBURU TEERTHA MUKKOTI OBSERVED WITH RELIGIOUS POMP IN TIRUMALA

Tirumala, 3 April 2015: Tumburu Teertha mukkoti has been observed with religious pomp and gaiety in Tirumala on Friday with hundreds of devotees trekking the steep hills of Seshachala to reach the holy waterfalls located in the thick green forests in Tirumala.

Among the 66 crore holy water falls located in the green belt of Seshachalam Ranges which also houses the world famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara, seven are considered to be most sacred which includes Swamy Pushkarini,Tumburu Teertham, Chakra Teertham,

Gogarbham, Papavinasanam, Akasa Ganga and Ramakrishna Teertham.

This mukkoti usually observed on full moon day usually in the months of March-April combined with the star Uttara Phalguni which is considered to be very auspicious. This theertham is named after Saint Tumburu who did penance here in these caves.
