UGADI AND SRIRAMA NAVAMI ASTHANAMS IN TIRUMALA TEMPLE ON MARCH 21 AND 28

TIRUMALA, 11 March 2015: The hill town of Tirumala is gearing up for twin festival occasions of Ugadi and Sri Rama Navami which will occur with a week’s gap between them.

Ugadi Asthanam will be observed at Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala on March 21 while exactly after a week Sri Rama Navami Asthanam will be performed in hill shrine on March 28.

In connection with the Manmadhanama Ugadi (Telugu New Year’s Day) Asthanam (court) will be conducted at the Bangaru vakili inside the sanctum sanctorum which shall be presided over by the Commander-in-Chief of the Lord’s Army Lord Viswaksena in the presence of the Utsava deities of Lord Venkateswara. Asthanam will be organised between 7am to 9am on March 21 soon after the conclusion of the pre-dawn rituals inside the temple all of which shall be observed in Ekantham.

Meanwhile the Koil Alwar Tirmanjanam in connection with Ugadi will be performed on March 17 in Tirumala shrine. It is a customary cleansing ritual observed four times in a year before Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Anivara Asthanam, Ugadi and annual brahmotsavams.

On the other hand, the Sri Rama Navami Asthanam will be performed inside Bangaru Vakili on the night of March 28 by 10pm and Sri Rama Pattabhishekam on March 29 by 8pm.

The temple administration on its part has also dispensed with arjitha seva rituals of the respective days during these festivals.
