UGRA SRINIVASA TO BLESS DEVOTEES ON NOV 11
Tirumala, 5 November, 2016: One of the oldest idols of Lord Venkateswara, Lord Ugra Srinivasa Murthy will bless the pilgrims in the hill town on the auspicious occasion of Kaisika Dwadasi which will be observed on November 11 in the holy month of Kartika.
This festival is of great significance in Tirumala, since the panchaloha idol of Lord Ugra Srinivasa is brought out of the main sanctum sanctorum only on this auspicious day in the year.
The deity will be taken out in a grand procession around the mada streets on a golden palanquin flanked by His two consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi and returns to the main sanctum sanctorum even before the sunrise.
Hundreds of devotees arrive at Tirumala to witness this once in a year darshan of Ugra Srinivasa Murthy – the fierce form of Lord Venkateswara.
Kaisika Dwadasi is observed on the 12th day during the waxing phase of moon as per traditional Hindu calendar.
