PURANDHARA DASA PIONEERED DASA BHAKTHI-PONTIFF

Tirumala, 8 February 2016: The Unjal Seva Mahotsavam of the processional deities took part in a big way in Narayanagiri Gardens in Tirumala on Monday evening in connection with the Aradhana Mahotsavam of Kannada Pitamaha Sri Purandhara Dasa.

Over 3000 Dasa Paras took part in this fete and rendered Keertans in a melodious way. While the young Dasaparas performed classical dance to these padas.

In his spiritual address Sri Vidyadeeshateertha Swamy of Palimaru Mutt said, Purandhara Dasa pioneered Dasa Bhakti, which is the main mode of Bhakti to reach Lord through community singing in Kaliyuga. “He followed in the divine path shown by Sri Vyasa Yateendra and attained salvation by penning over 4.75lakh keertans in praise of Lord”, he said.

Ttd EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, PRO Dr T Ravi, Project Officer Sri Anandateerthacharyulu were also present.

Earlier in the morning, in Asthana Mandapam, felicitation was performed to eminent scholars who have done vast research on Sri Purandhara Dasa Prasasthi. Adhamar mutt seer Sri Eshapriyateertha Swamy also took part in this fete. Tirumala temple OSD Sri Pala Seshadri was also felicitated on this momentous occasion.
