Tirumala, 11 July 2014: Vaikhanasa Agama is the essence of all Vedas and is considered as the encyclopaedia of temple worship, said TTD EO Sri MG Gopal

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day Vaikhanasa Agama Sadas organised under the aegis of Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad(HDPP) in Asthana Mandapam at Tirumala on Friday, the EO said, the daily rituals in Tirumala shrine take place as per the guidelines of Vaikhanasa Agama in a systematic manner. “There is shortage of 1548 archakas in TTD run temples across the country. We are contemplating to fill these posts after discussing in the coming board meeting soon. Keeping in view the shortage of Vaikhanasa Agama scholars, the vedic students are to be encouraged to take up this subject so that it would help them in future” he added.

The EO also said, in the years to come, the youth from India and China are to rule the world. “More than China, our country has more opportunity for overseas jobs especially in the European Countries. At this point, the demand for archakas in the temples abroad also may arise. Keeping in view this, we are encouraging vedic education to a great extent”, he maintained.

Adding further, elaborating on the various incentives initiated by TTD to encourage vedic education, the EO said,”We are giving a stipend of Rs.3lakhs to 12-year and Rs.1lakh to 8-year vedic course students in Dharmagiri Veda Pathashala. We are also funding around 134 vedic schools in the country and allocating Rs.1.5lakhs grant to each school per annum. We are giving pensions to over 2000 vedic scholars across the country every month. To encourage the Vedas, we are organising a five day vedic meet from October 10-14 in Dharmagiri Veda Pathashala this year”, he added.

Later Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar said, all the principles and morals that are required for a human to lead a righteous way of life are embedded in Vaikhanasa Agama. Hence it is also called “Bhagavat Shastram”-the Study of Almighty. This conference will enable the management to execute the rituals and other customary temple affairs with more perfection”, he added.
