VARALAKSHMI VRATAM PERFORMED WITH RELIGIOUS ECSTASY

TIRUCHANOOR, AUGUST 28: One of the most important Hindu religious festival, Varalakshmi Vratam has been observed religious ecstasy in the temple town of Tiruchanoor on Friday.

Many devotees took part in this mass Varalakshmi Vratam organised by TTD in Asthana Mandapam. The premises was decked with the Asta Lakshmi Concept by the garden department in a colourful way using different blend of varieties of flowers.

The priests performed the Vratam by chanting the eight different forms of Goddess Lakshmi Devi (Asta lakshmi ) including Sri (Wealth), Bhu (Earth), Sarasvati (learning), Priti (love), Kirti (Fame), Santi (Peace), Tushti(Pleasure) and Pushti(Strength) and sought Her blessings for the prosperity of humanity.

While the chief Agama expert Sri Srinivasacharyulu chanted the nine unique names while tying the “Nava Grandhi” Vrata Kankanam each thread string representing one Divya Swarupa of Goddess including Om Sri Kamalai Namaha, Ramai Namha, Lokamatre Namaha, Viswajananyai Namaha, Mahalakshmai Namaha, Kheerabdhi Tanayai Namha, Vishwasakshinyai Namaha, Chandra Sahodarinyai Namaha and Sri Varalakshmai Namaha.

Later he narrated the Varalakshmi Vrata Sankalpam story from Skanda Purana where in a female devotee by name Charumathi Devi attained Astaishwarya after performing Varalakshmi Vratam.

Meanwhile the mass vratam which started at 10am continued till 12pm and it was a spectacle for tens of thousands of eyes that converged to see the mightiness of one of the Consorts of Lord Venkateswara in dazzling jewels and colourful floral garlands and silk vastrams.

Ttd Board Chief Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, TTD EO Sri Sambasiva Rao, Justice Meena Kumari, Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar, Board Members Sri Bhanuprakash Reddy, Sri Hariprasad, Temple Spl Gr DyEO Smt Chenchulakshmi, Sri Munirathnam Reddy and other officers, devotees were also present.

VARALAKSHMI VRATAM OBSERVED TODAY IN 230 TEMPLE ACROSS TELUGU STATES-EO

TTD EO Dr D Samba Siva Rao along with TIRUPATI JEO Sri P Bhaskar said that as a part of Seventh phase Managudi programme, the religious event of Varalakshmi Vratam has been observed across 230 temples in AP and TS.

“Tomorrow the mass fete will be observed in over 54000 odd temple across two telugu speaking States in association with AP Endowments Department”, he added.
