VASTRA BAHUMANAM FROM NOVEMBER 26

Tirupati, 21 November 2016: In connection with the annual Karthika Brahmotsavams of Goddess Padmavathi Devi of Tiruchanoor from November 26 to December 4, TTD has invited the pilgrim devotees to get blessed in the divine seva by offering Vastra Bahumanam to presiding deity.

Among the temples under the control of TTD, after Tirumala shrine of Lord Venkateswara, the Tiruchanoor temple of Goddess Padmavathi Devi is the next most visited pilgrim shrine. To involve the pilgrims in a big way, TTD has come out with a unique idea of accepting Pattu Zari Sarees in the form of donations from the pilgrims during brahmotsavams.

According to Special Grade Deputy EO Sri Munirathnam Reddy, a special counter will function from November 26 on wards to receive donations from devotees from 2pm to 4pm. “With some specific guide lines we accept the Pattu Sarees from devotees. The Zari border for pure silk (Pattu) saree should be 9 inch and above only. As we are going to dress it up to the presiding deity, the measurement of zari should be not less than 9 inches”, he said.

The devotees who are willing to donate the Pattu Zari Sarees are requested to make a note of this specification which is mandatory.
