VENGAMAMBA JAYANTHI HELD IN TIRUMALA

Tirumala, 20 May 2016: TTD has observed the 286th Birth anniversary celebrations of Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba in a big way in Tirumala on Friday.

In his religious discourse Hyderabad based Sulalitha Peetham Pontiff Jagatguru Sri Supurnananda Swami described Vengamamba as one of ardent devotees of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and Lord Venkateswara.

“She paid rich tributes to her twin favorite deities with her remarkable literary works”, he added.

Later Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju in his speech said Vengamamba remained as a role model of having pioneered Annaprasadam.

All Projects Special officer Sri N Muktheswara Rao in his message described Vengamamba as role model of women empowerment.

Vengamamba project coordinator Dr KJ Krishnamurty narrated some important episodes in the life of Vengamamba.

Earlier the utsavarulu were brought to Narayanagiri gardens and unjal Seva was performed with religious fervour.

The artistes rendered the kritis penned by Vengamamba on this memorable occasion.

Tirumala Jeo Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju on Friday evening advocated Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba pioneered Annaprasadam distribution in Tirumala some 250years ago and became a role model to many.

Speaking on the occasion of 286th Jayanthi celebrations of Vengamamba after offering floral tributes at Vengamamba Brindavanam at Tirumala he said Vengamamba not only fought against all social evils prevailed in those days but stood strong and determined in her goal of attaining salvation at the Lotus feet of Lord through her great literary works.
