WOMEN CHARACTERS PLAY VITAL ROLE IN RAMAYANA-SPEAKERS

Tirupati, 14 March 2017: The speakers on the second day of the ongoing three day Srimad Valmiki Ramayana Sadassu advocated that the women characters play a vital role in Ramayana.

Speaking in the conference held at Annamacharya Kalamandiram under the aegis of Puranetihasa Project of TTD on Tuesday on “Role of women in Ramayana”, renowned scholar Smt Dhulipala Mahadevamani said, the characters of Sita, Kausalya, Sumitra, Kaikeyi, Mandhara, Surasa, Ahalya etc.are being portrayed to impact on the real life style. “Each character is an example of the attitude and behaviour of humans and especially women”, she said.

Dr KV Ranganayaki another scholar said, it is Sita who stood behind Sri Rama and made him the most revered King of India in terms of character, attitude, administration.

While scholars Sri Sreenivasacharyulu, Sri Pada Subrahmanyam described Sri Rama as “Ramo vigrahavan dharmaha” and hence attained the status of almighty though he was born as a human being. Even after aeons and centuries we revered him as the standing example of human values”, they maintained.

Special Officer of All Projects Sri N Muktheswara Rao, Puranetihasa Project Special Officer Dr Samudrala Lakshmanaiah were also present.
