SACRED DARBHA MAT AND ROPE PROCESSION HELD _ శ్రీవారి బ్రహ్మోత్సవాల దర్భ చాప, తాడు ఊరేగింపు
TIRUMALA, 23 SEPTEMBER 2022: In view of the Salakatla Brahmotsavams which is going to commence from September 27 in Tirumala temple, the procession of sacred darbha mat and rope which will be used in the temple fete during the holy ‘Dwajarohanam’ was held on Friday.
“Darbha”, scientifically known as Desmostachya bipinnata, is a tropical grass, which is considered most pious in Vedic scriptures and plays an important role in all the ritual related religious activities of Hindu Sanatana Dharma.
The mat and rope made of this holy grass are tied to the temple pillar and pujas are performed as per the tenets of Vaikhanasa Agama amidst the chanting of Vedic Mantras unfurling the Garuda flag atop the Dhwajasthambham heralding the beginning of annual brahmotsavams.
The legends say that there are two types of Darbhas – Shiva Darbha and Vishnu Darbha. In Srivari temple Vishnu Darbha is collected from Chelluru near the Yerpdu mandal, region of the Tirupati district. After drying it in sun rays for a week, a 22-feet length and 7-feet width mat along with a 200-feet rope set ready for the holy Dhwajarohanam event by the forest staff.
Meanwhile, the Darbha mat and rope were placed atop the Sesha Vahanam located in Ranganayakula Mandapam.
Deputy Conservator of Forest of TTD Sri Srinivasulu, VGO Sri Bali Reddy, FRO Venkata Subbaiah, DyRO Sri Srinivasulu and others were also present in the procession.

తిరుమల, 2022 సెప్టెంబరు 23: శ్రీవారి సాలకట్ల బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలలో ధ్వజారోహణానికి ఊపయోగించే దర్భ చాప, తాడును టిటిడి అటవీ విభాగం కార్యాలయం నుండి శుక్రవారం డిఎఫ్‌వో శ్రీ ఎ.శ్రీనివాసులు, సిబ్బంది ఊరేగింపుగా శ్రీవారి ఆలయానికి తీసుకొచ్చారు.
అనంతరం శ్రీవారి ఆలయం రంగనాయకుల మండపంలోని శేషవాహనంపై దర్భతో తయారుచేసిన చాప, తాడును ఉంచారు. ఈ నెల 27వ తేదీ జరిగే ధ్వజారోహణంలో వీటిని ఉపయోగిస్తారు.
ధ్వజారోహణానికి దర్భ చాప, తాడు కీలకం
బ్రహ్మోత్సవాల ఆరంభానికి సూచికగా ధ్వజారోహణం నిర్వహిస్తారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా ధ్వజస్తంభంపైకి గరుడ పతాకం ఎగురవేసి ముక్కోటి దేవతలను బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలకు ఆహ్వానిస్తారు. రుత్వికులు వేద మంత్రాలతో దర్భ చాపను ధ్వజస్తంభం చుట్టూ చుడతారు. దర్భతో పేనిన తాడును ధ్వజస్తంభంపై వరకు చుడతారు. వీటి తయారీ కోసం టిటిడి అటవీ శాఖ 10 రోజుల ముందునుంచే కసరత్తు చేస్తుంది. దర్భలో శివ దర్భ, విష్ణు దర్భ అనే రెండు రకాలు ఉండగా, తిరుమలలో విష్ణు దర్భను ఉపయోగిస్తారు.
ఇందుకోసం ఏర్పేడు మండలం చెల్లూరు గ్రామంలో విష్ణుదర్భను టిటిడి అటవీ సిబ్బంది సేకరించారు. దీన్ని తిరుమలకు తెచ్చి తక్కువ ఎండలో వారం రోజులు ఎండబెట్టి బాగా శుభ్రపరచి, చాప, తాడు తయారు చేశారు. అటవీశాఖ సిబ్బంది 22 అడుగుల పొడవు, ఏడున్నర అడుగుల వెడల్పుతో దర్భ చాప, 200 అడుగుల పొడవు తాడు సిద్ధం చేశారు.
ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో విజివో శ్రీ బాలిరెడ్డి, రేంజ్‌ అధికారి శ్రీ వెంకటసుబ్బయ్య, డెప్యూటీ రేంజ్‌ అధికారి శ్రీ ఎస్‌.శ్రీనివాసులు తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
