510th ANNAMAIAH VARDHANTHI CELEBRATIONS AT TIRUMALA

TIRUMALA, April 7:  Saint Poet Tallapaka Annamacharya, popularly known as “Padakavitha Pitamaha” has propagated Sri Venakteswara Bhakti Cult not alone in the state of Andhra Pradesh but across the country with his rare and outstanding keertans written in praise of Lord said TTD EO Sri LV Subramanyam.
 
Speaking on the occassion 510th Death Anniversary celebrations of the legendary saint poet, EO said, born 1408AD the saint poet penned over 32thousand rare songs in his life span of 95 years before he breathed his last in 1503AD. “We want to popularise his keertans by composing new musical notes and training up the children in each and every district of Andhra Pradesh. The children who master themselves in Annamaiah Sankeerthans will be provided an opportunity to perform their talents on Nada Neerajanam platform or during special festive occasions. Today the popularity of Annaimaiah songs have even spread to other states and they are asking TTD to translate the works in their regional languages”, he added.
 
Meanwhile AP Governor H E Sri ESL Narasimhan, Ahobila mutt 45th Pontiff Sri Sri Sri Srinivasa Shatagopa Narayana Yateendra Mahadesikan Swamy, junior pontiff Sri Sriranga Shatagopa Narayana Yateendra Mahadesikan Swamy, renowned violinist Padmavibhushan Dr TN Krishnan have graced the Annamaiah Vardhanti Mahotsavams on Sunday which took place in narayanagiri gardens at Tirumala.
 
In his spiritual address the senior pontiff of Ahobila Mutt said, Annamacharya has dedicated his entire life in the service of Lord by penning rare songs. “As a tribute to this great soul, TTD has been organising Annamaiah Death and Birth anniversaries every year from the past few years which is a great gesture. The Annamacharya songs should reach masses across the country”, he aspired.
 
Later in his address Annmacharya Project Director Dr Medasani Mohan said about 2500 bhajan mandalis from Tamilnadu, Karnataka apart from Andhra Pradesh took part in this festival today. “We will be organising week long programmes in Tirupati, Tiruchanur, Tallapaka on this occasion”, he added.
 
AP Governor has relesed 2 CDs of rare keertans of Annamaiah including ” Chinnana Sankeerthana Vibhuthi, and annamaiah sundara sreemadhurima ” and book titled ” Venkatachala mahathyam ‘ on this occasion.
 
Earlier in the morning around 8am, the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy flanked by his two Consorts, Sri Devi and Bhu Devi were brought to the venue of narayanagiri gardens on a grand procession. 
 
Joint Executive Officers Sri K.S.Sreenivasa Raju, Sri P.Venkatarami Reddy, CVSO Sri GVG Ashok Kumar, temple Dy EO Sri Chinnamgari Ramana, Peishkar Sri Rama Rao and other officials, huge gathering of pilgrim devotees were also present.
