5MW SOLAR UNIT AT PALAMANER
Tirumala, 3 october, 2014: A 100 feet tall electrical decorative installation of Vishwaroopam greets the devotees near the Srivari temple at the hill shrine of Tirumala and enthralls them with dazzling colors enhancing the pomp and grandeur of the ongoing Brahmotsavam festival.
‘We have 30 such cut outs of 70 feet plus of mythological characters and 15 arches at Tirumala at a total cost of Rs.1.3 crore‘ says Venkateswarlu, SE of TTD Electricals, contending that the electrical installations of the TTD had earned kudos from both devotees and also agencies.
As against a requirement of 30MW of power for Tirumala, the TTD was generating 9 MW of wind power and another 100 KV of solar power at SRM University. Solar power us used for providing hot water at many of the guest houses in Tirumala and also for the cooking purposes at Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamabma complex of anna prasadam.
’We have plans to set up a 5MW solar unit at Palamaner where we have a diary and cow farm. ‘The wind power potential of Tirumala is immense but the forest department and the wild life regulations stall us from utilizing that capacity‘. Presently TTD plans to set up a 3.3MW wind power units at Akkagarlagudi on the downward ghat road.
