PUSHPAYAGAM PERFORMED WITH RELIGIOUS GAIETY

TIRUCHANOOR, DECEMBER 17: After the completion of the nine-day religious ceremony of annual Karthika Brahmotsavams in the temple of Tiruchanoor, the Goddess Padmavathi Devi was rendered a colourful floral ritual-Pushpa Yagam, with variety of flowers on Thursday.

OVER FIVE TONNES OF FLOWERS USED:

The ceremonious pushpayagam has been performed with religious fervor with tonnes of varieties of colourful traditional and ornamental flowers. This ceremony is usually performed after the completion of brahmotsavams to give a soothing and relaxed feel to Goddess who blessed the pilgrims on 16 different vahanams along the four-mada streets during the nine days.

FIVE PATRI AND 12 FLOWERS:

The ceremony which lasted for about three hours from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday evening, consisted of floral bath with five varieties of aroma grass including Maruvam, Tulsai, Davanam, Panner leaves and Bilva leaves while the twelve varieties of traditional flowers including chamanti, sampangi, vrukshi, ganneru, roses, lillies, lillium, kanakambaram, lotus, kaluva, mogali and manu sampangi.

GODDESS ENCHANTS PILGRIMS:

The beauty of Goddess enhanced with the floral tribute. The Goddess seated on the bed of these flowers enchanted the pilgrims.

PROCESSION OF FLOWERS:

Earlier in the noon, the procession of flowers under the supervision of Deputy Director of Garden Department of TTD, Sri Srinivas took place from Asthana Mandapam to the temple. Over 1000 baskets of different flowers and leaves were carried with each basket having a capacity of five kilos of flowers.

TTD Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Spl Gr DyEO Smt Chenchu Lakshmi, AEO Sri Radhakrishna, Suptd Sri Varaprasad, Temple staff, Devotees, Over 100 Srivari Seva volunteers took part in this ceremonious fete on Thursday evening.
