ANANTALWAR HIMSELF BECAME A SACRED FLOWER AT THE FLORAL FEET OF LORD-MUKTHESWARA RAO

Tirumala, 6 March 2016: Among the galaxy of intimate disciples of Ramanuja, Ananthazhvan who holds a unique place, has not only pioneered Pusha Kainkaryam to Lord Venkateswara but in fact blessed His life by becoming a sacred flower himself at the divine feet of Lord, said TTD All Projects Deputy EO Sri N Muktheswara Rao.

Speaking on the occasion of the 962nd Birth Anniversary of this great Sri Vaishnava at Purusaivari Tota in Tirumala on Sunday, he said, Anantalwar was born in Karnataka and later came to Ramanuja with few others for spiritual enlightenment. Anantalwar took up the holy task of bringing out a beautiful garden full of different flowers to be used to make garlands for the decoration of Lord and thus pioneered Pushpa Kainkaryam.

Earlier the successors of Anantalwar recited Alwar Divya Prabandham in Anantalwar Brindavanam followed by the religious discourse by the three holy pontiffs including HH Sri Tirumala Chinna Jiyangar, HH Sri Embar Jiyar of Sri Permabudur and HH Sri Embar Mannar Jiyar of Tirukkovilur. They complimented the successors of Anantalwar for continuing the legacy for centuries without any interruption.
