ANANTHAPADMANABHA VRATAM OBSERVED IN TIRUMALA WITH CHAKRASNANAM

TIRUMALA, SEPT.27: One of the important festivities, Anantha Padmanabha Vratam was observed religious fervour in the hill town of Tirumala with Chakrasnanam in Swamy Pushkarini on Sunday morning.

According to temple scriptures, Lord Venkateswara is believed as an incarnation of Lord Sri Maha Vishnu. As Anantha Padmanabha Swamy, yet another form of Lord is being described Sayanaupa-reclining pose, the festival is observed in grandeur in all Sri Vaishnava Khetras. The image of Anantapadmanabha Swamy is also located inside the main temple complex where the pilgrim can see Lord in reclining pose. As Tirumala temple is considered the número uno among 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams, the festival is observed on Bhadrapada Sukla Chaturdasi day every year in Tirumala.

Anantha Padmanabha is an embodiment and personification of peace, one who reclines on the great serpent bed Aadisesha, one whose navel is in the form of a Lotus that has given birth to the creation of Universe. since it is performed on the Chaturdasi day it is popularly known as Anantha Chaturdasi.

Earlier, TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao has worn the red coloured sacred silk threads (Vrata Thora-thread with 14 knots) and later took part in the procession of Sudarshana Chakrattalwar which was taken to Swamy Pushkarini in a ceremonious way. The Ayudhapurusha was rendered Tirumanjanam followed by Chakrasnanam. Later it was brought back to the temple.

Later TTD Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, Trust Board Member Sri G Bhanuprakash Reddy also took part in the ceremony.
