ANIVARA ASTHANAM OBSERVED WITH RELIGIOUS FERVOUR

Tirumala, 17 July 2014: The annual festival of Anivara Asthanam has been performed with religious fervour in the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara Swamy in Tirumala on July 17.

Lord Malayappa Swamy accompanied by His two consorts was brought to the Garudalwar Sannidhi and seated facing opposite to Garudalwar at Bangaru Vakili at around 7am.  Later the Commander-in-Chief of Lord, Sri Visvaksena was also seated adjacent to the deities and Asthanam was performed. The uniqueness of the festival is that the previous year accounts of the Srivari temple office was presented before the Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy by the principal officers and are taken back to signify that the Lord Malayappa Swamy finds the officers fit enough to hold their respective offices.  New books are presented at the feet of the Lord for recording finances of the next financial year.

The pontiffs of Tirumala, Sri Pedda Jiyar and Chinna Jiyar took part in the ceremonious proceedings and offered new silk vastrams to the presiding deity as well to the processional deities.

TTD has cancelled arjitha sevas including Tiruppavada, kalyanotsavam, unjal seva, arjitha brahmotsavam, vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Sevas owing to the festival.

Later a special set of Silk Vastrams were also presented to Lord by Sri Rangam Devasthanam on this occasion. Usually the TTD will gift the silk vastrams to Lord Sri Ranganatha Swamy of Sri Rangam once in a year during Kaisika Ekadasi Day. The Sri Rangam Devasthanam follows similar procedure of gifting the silk vastrams to Lord Venkateswara   during Anivara Asthanam day. The Chairman of Sri Rangam Temple Sri Venu Srinivasan,  Joint Commissioner (Endowments) and EO of Sri Rangam Devasthanams Sri Jayaraman has gifted the silk vastrams to Lord.

TTD EO Sri MG Gopal, JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, Additional CVSO Sri Siva Kumar Reddy, Deputy EOs Sri C Ramana, Sri Kodanda Rama Rao, temple peishkar Sri Selvam, Parupattedar Sri Ajay and others were also present.
