ANKURARPANAM PERFORMED WITH RELIGIOUS FERVOUR

Tirumala, 13 October, 15: As the nine-day Navarathri brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara is all set for a colourful take-off from Wednesday onwards, the ceremonious seed sowing festival, Ankurarpanam was observed with religious fervour on Tuesday evening in Tirumala temple.

This ritual signifies the beginning of the mega festival in the temple. This is followed by recital of vedas in a ritual called Mritsangrahana. Through the chanting of the vedas, Aavahana (Invoking) is done for Lord in the Pradhana Kumbha (first of the holy container). There are 16 other Kumbhas surrounding this Pradhana Kumbha and it is believed that the various mantras which are recited infuse voice vibrations that have great religious and spiritual force symbolising extending invitation to all the three crore divinities and deities of other worlds for the mega religious fete.

TTD Trust Board Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, TTD Trust board members, temple officials were also present.
