AVATAROTSAVAMS OF SRI SUNDARARAJA SWAMY

Tiruchanur, 12 June 2015: Avatarotsavams-the annual three day important festival of Lord Sri Sunderaraja Swamy located in Tiruchanoor will be observed from July 6 to 8 by TTD. This is an age old festival in practice since the period of Mahants which is usually observed with the advent of the star Sathabhisham and concluding on the star Uttarabhadra.

Sunderaraja Swamy is the oldest and first shrine located in the premises of Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru temple at Tiruchanoor. Signifying the emergence of Sri Sunderaraja Swamy this festival is observed in a grand manner.

As a part of it, there will be special pujas every day in the temple. On first day, the lord Sunderaraja Swamy will be rendered Sahasranamarchana in the morning followed by Kalyanotsavam to Goddess Padmavathi devi between 10:30am to 12 noon. Later special abhishekam will be performed to Lord Sri Sunderaraja Swamy from 2pm to 3:30pm in Mukha Mandapam followed by Unjal seva to the deity in the evening between 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Meanwhile there will be procession of Peddasesha Vahanam between 7:15pm to 8:30pm where in the celestial serpent vehicle carries the processional deity of Lord
Sri Sunderaraja Swamy along the four mada streets.

After similar rituals on the second day, the lord will be taken for a celestial ride on Hanumantha Vahanam in the evening and on the last day on Garuda Vahanam.
