RECORD LEVEL PLANTATION PROGRAMME IN TIRUMALA – EO

Tirumala, 29 July 2016: Apart from providing spiritual experience with the darshan of Lord Venkateswara, giving a soothing feel to the multitude of visiting pilgrims by developing the environs of seschalam ranges through massive plantation programme, is one of the top most agendas of TTD, said TTD Trust Board Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy.

As a part of the clarion call given by vanam-manam programme of State Government, TTD also did the plantation activity at various areas in Tirumala on Friday. TTD Trust Board Chief along with TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao and TIrumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju took part in the plantation programme at Srigandha Vanam near paruveta mandapam in hill town.

Later Speaking to media persons the Chairman said, TTD has been doing wide spread plantation activity since several decades and will continue the same for future generations.

RECORD LEVEL PLANTATION ACTIVITY :

Meanwhile the TTD EO who also planted a sandal wood plant, said, TTD is contemplating to take up record level plantation fete this year. “We have already prepared an action plan to plant Sandal Wood in 88 hectares of our forest cover in the next two months. We started this programme initially in 2013 in 12 hectares and we want to set a record of Sandalwood Plantation in 100 hectares of land”, he reiterated.

Elaborating further the EO said, TTD is consuming 500 kilos of sandal paste for various kainkaryams of Lord through out a year. “To meet this demand we require 20 well grown sandal wood trees. So we have decided to plant the trees that will suffice our temple needs for the next 200 years by taking up massive sandal wood plantation programme”, he added.

The EO also said, apart from plantation, TTD is also willing to distribute its saplings to other organisations and farmers. “Out of the 10 lakh redsanders saplings we have in our own nursery, we have given away two lakhs to farmers so far. Remaining will also be distributed if the organisations come forward,” he maintained.

Meanwhile Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju said, over 800 employees who are off their duty hours and 250 Srivari Sevakulu have also took part in the plantation programme carried out as a part of Vanam-Manam in Mullakunta area, behind Rambhageecha Bus Stand, Goshala, Parveta Mandapam premises, Gogarbham etc. by various departments of Tirumala in TTD.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Sri Sivaram Prasad, Special Grade DyEO Sri Bhaskar Reddy, DyEO Donor Cell Sri Rajendrudu, PRO Dr T Ravi were also present.
