DHANURAMASA ARADHANA COMMENCES IN TIRUMALA SHRINE

Tirumala, 16 December 2016: With the beginning of the auspicious Dhanurmasa, the ninth month in the lunar calendar series, the hills shrine of Tirumala observed Dhanurmasa Aradhana with special prayers commencing in the “Brahmi Muhurta” at 4:56 am on Friday.

IMPORTANCE:

“Maasanaam Maarga Seershoham” is stated by none other than Lord Himself meaning “I manifest more in Margashirsha Masam among different months in a year”. Hence offering worship to Lord Vishnu or His incarnations in this holy month is equivalent to worshipping Sri Maha Vishnu for 1000 years. Even the most important and sacred festival of Vaikuntha Ekadasi is also observed in this auspicious month only.

SUPRABHATAM TO BE REPLACED BY TIRUPPAVAI

During this whole month, the Suprabhata Seva will be replaced by Andal Sri Godai Tiruppavai Pasura Parayanam. Each day one pasuram will be recited before the presiding deity of Lord Sri Venkateswara by the archakas and Ekanta Seva is performed to Sri Krishna Swamy instead of Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy.

On Friday Suprabhatam was rendered to the deity in Ekanta and Abhishekam was performed between 1:30am to 2:30am by advancing the regular time in view of commencement of Dhanurmasam at 4:56am.

Later Dhanuramasa Kainkaryams have also been performed between 4pm and 6:30pm which were also observed as Ekanta.

The Tiruppavai, Thomala, Koluvu, Panchanga Sravana, first Archana will be performed between 2am and 5:30am for the next one month up to January 14 next.

The chief pontiffs of Tirumala HH Tirumala Pedda Jiyar and HH Tirumala Chinna Jiyar, TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, Temple DyEO Sri Kodanda Rama Rao and other officers were also present on the day of commencement of Dhanumasam in Tirumala.
