Inauguration of TTD Sri Srinivasa Sankara Nethralaya Operation Theatre _ శ్రీశ్రీనివాస శంకరనేత్రాలయ శస్త్రచికిత్సా విభాగాన్నిప్రారంభించిన ఈవో
Sri Srinivasa Sankara Nethralaya Trust(SSSN), a Trust, formed by Tirumala Tirupati Devsthanam (TTD) having its registered office at Administrative Building, Tirupati is all set to offer the best Eye Care Services to the employees of TTD, general public and pilgrims at Tirupati. SSSN has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Medical Research Foundation, (MRF) Chennai for setting up an Eye Care Center at the TTD’s Central Hospital at Tirupati and provide Ophthalmology services through Sankara Nethralaya (SN).
The Out-patient (OPD) facility was inaugurated on September 21, 2009, by the Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri K.Rosaiah garu.
Commencing the OPD services on September 28, 2009, SSSN has so for examined more than 4800 patients.
As per the MOA between SSSN and MRF the services have now been expanded to provide further OPD diagnostic procedures, cataract surgical procedures and optical services. Plans are under consideration to conduct rural out reach program in and around Tirupati and provide free transport facilities to bring in rural indigent patients for quality ophthalmic surgical care (Cataract) at the base hospital.
In addition, the centre will provide specialized treatment for Diabetic Retinopathy by Lased Coagulation. Diabetes is a major threat in the form of an epidemic and the best thing to do to prevent Blindness is to go for early detection and early treatment.
Currently, the SSSN Eye care centre examines around 20 patients every day. This is expected to rise to about 50. The operation Theatre, which is being inaugurated now will enable the centre to perform around 20 cataract surgeries every day. Already more than 350 patients are waiting to get operated at the SSSN center.
Nearly 80% of the patients which will include TTD employees their dependents, pensioner, pilgrims and public-will be treated free by SSSN.

ఈ సందర్భంగా జరిగిన సమావేశంలో ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ తిరుమల తిరుపతి దేవస్థానములచే ఏర్పరచబడిన శ్రీ శ్రీనివాస శంకర నేత్రాలయ ట్రస్టు తితిదే ఉద్యోగులకు, పురప్రజలకు మరియు యాత్రికులకు మేలైన కంటి చికిత్స సేవలు అందించుటకు పూర్తిగా సంసిద్ధమైనది అని తెలిపారు.
2009వ సం||రం సెప్టంబరు 28వ తేది నుండి ప్రారంభమైన బయట రోగుల (ఔట్‌ పేషంట్‌) చికిత్స క‌రొర‌కు శ్రీ శ్రీనివాస శంకర నేత్రాలయ ట్రస్టు వారు ఇంతవరకు 4,800 మంది రోగులకు పైగా చికిత్సా సేవలందించారు అని పేర్కొనారు. శ్రీ శ్రీనివాస శంకర నేత్రాలయ ట్రస్టు మరియు మెడికల్‌ రీసెర్చ్‌ ఫౌండేషన్‌ వారి పరస్పర చట్టపరమైన ఒప్పంద పత్రము ప్రకారము, ప్రస్తుతము అందిస్తున్న సేవలు
విస్తరించబడుతున్నాయి. బయటి రోగుల వ్యాధుల నిర్థారణ పద్ధతులు, పాక్షికంగా అంధత్వము కలిగించే కంటి శుక్లము వ్యాధి శస్త్రచికిత్సా విధానము మరియు తదితర దృష్టి సంబంధమైన సేవలు విస్తరించబడ్డాయి.
అంతేగాక తిరుపతి చుట్టుప‌క్కల గ్రామాలలో ఉండే కంటి వ్యాధులతో బాధపడే పేదవారిని ఎంపిక చేసి, ఉచిత రవాణా సౌకర్యము కల్పించి వారిని నేత్రాలయమునకు పిలుచుకుని వచ్చి వారికి మేలైన నేత్ర శస్త్ర చికిత్స సేవలు (ఉచిత క్యాటరాక్ట్‌ ఆపరేషన్లు జరిపించి) అందించుటకు ప్రణాళిక సిద్ధం చేశామని తెలిపారు. ప్రస్తుతము శ్రీ శ్రీనివాస శంకర నేత్రాలయ ట్రస్టు నేత్ర చికిత్స కేంద్రము ప్రతిరోజూ 20 మందికి పైగా రోగులకు చికిత్సలు అందిస్తున్నారు. ఈ సేవలు ప్రతిరోజు 50 మంది రోగుల వరకు పెరగవచ్చు. ఇప్పుడు ప్రారంభించభోయే శస్త్ర చికిత్సాలయం (ఆపరేషన్‌ థియేటర్‌) ద్వారా ప్రతిరోజూ
20 మంది రోగుల కంటి పొర / కంటి శుక్లాల (క్యాటరాక్ట్‌) శస్త్ర చికిత్సలు చేయుటకు వీలౌతుందని అన్నారు.
శంకర నేత్రాలయాని తిరుపతిలో ప్రారంభించాడానికి తితిదే చైర్మన్‌ డి.కె. ఆదికేశవులు ఎంతో కృషి చేసారు అని కొనియాడారు.అలాగే తిరుమల అశ్విని ఆసుప్రతిలో శంకర నేత్రాలు ఒ.పి విభాగాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేస్తామని చెప్పారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో తితిదే జె.ఇ.ఓ డా|| ఎన్‌.యువరాజు, స్విమ్స్‌ డైరెక్టర్‌ డా|| వెంగమ్మ, వైద్యపరి శోధన సంస్థ అధ్యకక్షులు డా|| భద్రినాథ్‌, డా||విష్ణువాహన్‌, తితిదే సీనియర్‌ మెడికల్‌ ఆఫీసర్‌ డా|| ప్ర‌భాకర్‌, ఇతర అధికారులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
