KKC RECORDS THREE LAKH TONSURES DURING BTUs TILL OCT 8

Tirumala, 9 October 2016: A record number of three lakh tonsuring services have been done by 1500 barbers including 277 women barbers to devotees during the ongoing annual Srivari Brahmotsavams in Tirumala from day one till October 8, said Sri Venkataiah, Dy EO of Kalyana Katta.

Addressing reporters in the Media center on the tonsuring services provided to devotees he said that the main kalyana katta, tonsuring centres in PAC-1, PAC 2, SV rest house etc. functioned on 24×7. ”We have provided quality materials like blades, dettol, sandal paste and face mask to each barber”, he added.

Over the direction of TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, a special hall was earmarked- (2nd hall at main kalyana katta) with 6 tonsure token counters besides provision of coffee and tea for devotees.

The KKC Dy EO said that enough care and security measures were taken to ensure that all devotees got corruption free treatment at all tonsuring locations and that all of them comfortably fulfilled their vow to offer their hair to Lord Venkateswara with devotion.
