MAIDEN PUSHPAYAGAM ENTHRALLS DEVOTEES IN SRI GOVINDARAJA SWAMY TEMPLE

Tirupati, 4 July 2014: The annual Pushpayaga Mahotsavam taken up by TTD for the first time in the ancient temple of Lord Sri Govindaraja Swamy at the pilgrim city of Tirupati enthralled the devotees on friday.

The floral bath lasted nearly four hours amidst the chanting of vedic verses from scriptures by temple priests. About five tonnes of various variety of flowers were offered on the deities of Lord Sri Govindaraja accompanied by His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi.

The flowers were later distributed as ‘prasadam’ to the devotees, who thronged the temple to witness the new ‘seva’.

This ritual is usually performed to overcome the sins committed either knowingly or unknowingly by temple priests, officials, staff and devotees during brahmotsavams or nitya kainkaryams.

TTD JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar, Temple Deputy EO Sri Chandrasekhar Pillai and others were also present.
