METLOTSAVAM PERFORMED WITH RELIGIOUS POMP

Tirupati, 26 March 2014: In connection with 511th Vardanthi Mahotsavams of Saint Poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya, Metlotsavam has been performed at Alipiri in Tirupati on Wednesday with religious pomp and gaiety with thousands of Annamacharya Bhajan troupes taking part in the festival.

After performing Metlapuja, addressing the occasion, Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar said, “Saint Annamacharya raised his voice against the indiscrimination and inequalities that were largely prevalent in the society some six hundred years ago and fought against them through his keertans like “Bramha Mokkate Para Brahmamokkate”, “Aye Kulajudemi Evaraina Nemi”, etc. Today we are able to bring out about 14000 kritis of the 32000 keertans penned by Padakavita Pitamaha. Of which around 1500 keertans were recoreded by SV Recording Project of TTD. However we are planning to record the 14000 kritis also with the children who are aged between 9y to 14y, youth aged between 15y to 20y and experts who could render the Annamaiah Keetans with aplomb”, he added.

He said, on Thursday, there will be procession of Utsava Murthies from Tirumala temple to Narayanagiri Gardens where the artistes will render Sapathagiri Sankeerthana Gosthi Ganam followed by spiritual message by the seer of Ahobila Mutt.
